To all new members; Anything you might need to know about our sweet little Savage can be found down the forum, take the time to look. Regarding modifying the stock muffler? My experience shouts DON'T! You will not like the raspy sound. I have tried several of the cheap easy muffler mods and they all resulted in a very unpleasent sound of varying intensities.
I finally achieved the sound I was looking for by modifying a used but new looking $10.00 HD Sportster aftermarket cigar shaped muffler from an independent V-twin shop. The details can be found by reading my previous post from about a year back. Make sure you do the white spacer trick and change main jet also.
